Superior
golfing offered at Sandy Lane
With
45 holes of world-class golf, Sandy Lane provides the
ultimate choice in contrasting golfing experiences
Guests
can choose between Sandy Lane's three distinct golf
courses, the Old Nine, the Country Club, and the Green
Monkey, resulting in an almost endless array of superior
golf experiences.
Spend
a relaxing afternoon on the famous Old Nine course.
Constructed in 1961, the course is intimate yet challenging.
With its tree-lined fairways, it winds its way magically
through the old estate. When the Old Nine course opened,
it was among the first resort courses built in the Caribbean.
Today it remains with all it glamour, featuring mahogany
lined fairways and small well guarded greens. The course
provides for a cool morning or afternoon walking round
of golf with the stunning view from the elevated tees
of the signature par 3, hole number 7.
The first course designed by Tom Fazio outside the US,
the exquisite and demanding par-72, 18-hole Country
Club course features lush greens, five lakes and lovely
open fairways with angled slopes. Most holes offer spectacular
Caribbean Sea views, shared with the famous Bajan Green
Monkeys which live in the gullies in and around the
course. The course comprises 5 par threes, 8 par fours,
and 5 par fives.
Tom Fazio, one of the leading golf course architects
in the United States, has created a masterpiece with
Sandy Lane's third course, The Green Monkey. Carved
out of a former quarry with dramatic elevation changes
and spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea, the course
offers a new challenge to golfers with four holes that
play into or from the quarry. The course is named after
its namesake, the Bajan Green Monkey, and aptly features
a bunker with a grass island carved in the shape of
a monkey. One of Tom Fazio's most magnificent and exciting
designs yet, the course comprises five par threes, five
par fives and eight par fours.
Everything
on all three courses is state-of-the-art, even down
to the golf carts, which feature GPS tracking and three-dimensional
screens with the layout of each hole.
In
December 2001, the 55,000-square-foot Clubhouse opened.
Designed by Johnson Fain Partners, the Clubhouse features
panoramic views of the Country Club course's 9th and
18th holes and the Green Monkey, as well as being home
to the Country Club bar and restaurant, locker rooms
and a fully-stocked pro shop.
