Lane is located on the western coast of the island of
Barbados and sits on a 1000-foot white sand beach beside
the sparkling waters of the Caribbean Sea. The resort
is approximately a 35 - minute drive from Grantley International
Airport.

History:
Originally
built in 1961 on the site of an old sugar plantation
by Ronald Tree, Sandy Lane firmly established itself
as the premier address in the Caribbean and hosted many
movie stars, business personalities, and royalties.
In 1970, Sandy Lane and Golf Club was acquired by Trusthouse
Forte, which operated the property until 1996, when
it was acquired by Dermot Desmond and J.P. McManus Partners
and completely rebuilt and expanded, opening in 2001.

Accommodation:
The
new Sandy Lane features a classical design of coral
stone, set in a mahogany grove. Sandy Lane has 112 luxury
rooms and suites comprised of 26 Orchid rooms (779 sq.
ft.), 6 Luxury Orchid suites (1,575 sq. ft.), 10 Ocean
rooms (707 sq. ft.), 60 Luxury Ocean rooms (867 sq.
ft.), 5 Dolphin suites (1,443 sq. ft.), 3 Luxury Dolphin
suites (1,575 sq. ft.) and 2 Penthouses (3,971 sq. ft.).
Averaging
900 square feet, accommodations are spacious and each
uniquely feature a large private verandah, plasma screen
television, NEOS entertainment system, laptops, high-speed
wireless internet access, personalized private bar,
phone and control panel on each side of the bed, reading
lights, specially designed multi-spray showers, heated
mirrors in the bathroom, electronic "Do Not Disturb"
and "Make Up Room" signs, and parabolic speakers
on the verandah and in the bathroom. A selection of
newspapers from over 40 countries is available and delivered
daily.
A
7,300 square foot, 5-bedroom villa debuted in December
2002.

Restaurants:
Sandy
Lane has four unique restaurants. The two main restaurants,
L'Acajou and Bajan Blue, are located right by the Caribbean
Sea, affording spectacular views.
L'Acajou
- Newly renovated, the 80-seat chic seafront restaurant
features Asian-inspired cuisine, and a wide selection
of new world and European wines to complement the exquisite
cuisine.
Bajan Blue - Casual beachfront, 150-seat restaurant
offering the finest from the Caribbean, Mediterranean,
and Asia. From the freshest tuna niçoise salad
for lunch to a grilled veal rib chop for dinner, Bajan
Blue offers something for everybody.
The
Spa Café offers guests a light alternative for
lunch with an array of healthy dishes.
The
Country Club restaurant is the restaurant at the Golf
Clubhouse. Open from 11:00am until 5:00pm, it features
a casual menu and breathtaking views of the Caribbean,
the Country Club and the Green Monkey golf courses.
Afternoon
Tea is served daily on the lower terrace and offers
a selection of quality tea, bridge rolls, finer sandwiches,
scones, and pastries.
Bars:
The
Monkey Bar, designed by one of England's leading muralists
Gez Taylor, offers guests a lively setting to enjoy
their favorite cocktail or after dinner drink. Live
entertainment every Wednesday and Friday nights on the
lower terrace.
The Beach Bar is open for casual snacks and refreshing
drinks throughout the day overlooking the resort's pristine
beach.
The
Pool Bar is located on the edge of the pool beneath
the dramatic waterfall. Guest may enjoy beverages and
cocktails either in the pool or be served seated underneath
the waterfall.
The
Terrace Lounge offers a diverse cocktail menu and hors
d'oeuvres overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
The
Country Club Bar is located at the Country Club golf
course and has panoramic views of the 9th and 18th holes.
Spa:
The
Spa at Sandy Lane is a 47,000-square-foot facility that
blends traditional cultural therapies from the Caribbean,
the Far East, and Europe and features a spa, café
and a full service John Frieda Salon.
Facilities
include: 14 VIP personalized suites, Chakra treatment
room, relaxation and meditation rooms, crystal laconium,
steam room, ice cave, a hydrotherapy pool, and 5,000
square feet of fitness facilities.
Swimming
Pool:
Free
form 7,500-square-foot swimming pool in garden patio
setting, with adjacent changing facilities. Beverages
and cocktails available poolside and at the swim-up
Pool Bar.
Golf
Courses:
Sandy
Lane provides the ultimate choice of contrasting golfing
experiences. Guests can choose between playing on the
charming 9-hole Old Nine course or at the Country Club,
a Tom Fazio designed 18-hole course with spectacular
views of the Caribbean Sea.
The
Green Monkey, another Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole course,
was masterfully carved out of the quarry and is currently
available for play by hotel guests only.
The
55,000-square-foot Golf Clubhouse was designed by Johnson
Fain Partners and features the Country Club restaurant
and The Pro Shop at the Clubhouse.
Tennis
Club:
The
tennis club includes nine championship floodlit tennis
courts with two different surfaces, a tennis pavilion,
and professionally recognized tennis management.
Fitness
Facilities:
A
2,500-square-foot gymnasium with a state-of-the art
exercise studio, personal training room, and fitness
lifestyle room located in the spa. Group exercise classes
are available including calypso aerobics, aqua aerobics,
Pilates, body sculpting, spinning, yoga and Tai Chi.
Beach
Amenities:
With
1000 feet of pure white sand, it is one of Barbados'
most spectacular beaches. Beach services include refreshing
cold towels, Evian misting, tropical drinks, sorbets,
fresh fruit, water sports, beach attendants and sunglass
cleaning.
Sandy Lane's Beach Club offers a complete range of water
sports such as water-skiing, banana rides, kayaking,
catamaran sailing, and swimming with sea turtles.
Children's
Activities:
The
Tree House Club provides supervised activities for children
between the ages of 3 - 12 and is open between the hours
of 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. The staff
provides art & crafts, drama, sports, games, and
a themed dinner in the Tree House dining room. Babysitting
is also offered 24-hours a day.
The
Den is an area especially designed for teenagers, located
on the lower level of the Treehouse Club. Young adults
ages 13 and older can enjoy their own lounge area with
a pool table, air hockey, foosball, a jukebox, and computers.
Retail
Shops:
Sandy
Lane offers their guests a wide variety of shops in
the hotel. The shops include The Sandy Lane Boutique
(Sandy Lane logo items), The Gatsby (high-end resort
wear), The Gallery (local artwork), The Newsstand, The
Jewelers, and The Pro Shop at the Clubhouse.
Group
Accommodations and Space:
Small
executive conferences and board meetings are welcome
at Sandy Lane during certain times of the year. There
are two meeting rooms on the lobby level of the hotel
and a myriad of venues within the resort for discreet
and elegant functions. Special rates and group programs
are available on request.
