CHIEF EXECUTIVE MESSAGE
Dear Guests and Friends of Sandy Lane,
Warm and sunny greetings from all our team!
 After another very hectic and successful winter season, we can reflect on several highlights, in
particular the World Cup of Golf last December at Sandy Lane Country Club, then the recent World
Cup Cricket finals hosted in Barbados.
My personal highlight was most definitely the World Cup of Golf, which we were honoured to host from
7th-10th December. It turned out to be a truly world-class event with the eventual winners Germany
captained by the hugely popular Bernhard Langer, one of the world’s lifetime golfing greats.
Germany won only after a sudden death play-off with the Scotland team led by Colin Montgomerie with
the team from Sweden finishing third. It was a testament to both our Country Club course layout and
the truly fantastic preparation done by our own Golf and Landscape teams that the winning score after
four days of competition was only -16 Under-Par. Whilst the weather was mixed, all participants were very
impressed by the tough test of their golfing skills, particularly our wonderful greens!
The event was watched in over 140 countries by in excess of 200 million viewers; it really has showcased
both Sandy Lane’s excellent golfing experience as well as showing much of what Barbados has to offer.
The Cricket World Cup also has ensured that Barbados has received lots of global attention, as host of
the Super 8’s and then the thrilling Final between Sri Lanka and Australia (the eventual winners).
At Sandy Lane we now look forward to our summer season and to welcoming back many of our families
who spend their summer holidays with us each year, even holding their extended family re-unions and get
togethers with us. Our Treehouse Club team is ready with many new activities and ideas to fill our young
visitors with a fun itinerary every day. In addition our Tennis, Golf, Water-Sports and Concierge
teams look forward to assisting you and your older children with a wide array of other activities both
on and off-property.
The summer months also have many exciting and varied local events to look forward to including
International Polo, Crop Over Festival and the Barbados Culinary Festival.
We recently welcomed a further addition to our senior management team, Ms Claire Jordan. Claire joins
us as our Director of Sales & Marketing and will be working hard to ensure Sandy Lane continues to go
from strength to strength. Claire is already focussed on conducting market research into what you our
valued guests would like to see at Sandy Lane and we invite your direct contact with Claire on any
